For providers: Always document feeding responses objectively (e.g., ‘stool type per Bristol scale’, ‘crying duration in minutes’, ‘feeding duration in seconds’) rather than using subjective terms like ‘better’ or ‘settled’. This enables reproducible assessment and informs shared decision-making.
For families: Trust your instincts — if something feels off, speak up. You know your infant’s rhythms better than any label or algorithm. And remember: every infant’s digestive system matures at its own pace. What works today may need adjustment tomorrow — and that’s part of healthy development, not failure.
