In 2022, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs issued a non-binding advisory cautioning parents about untested sling designs lacking mandatory labeling per the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) IS 15621:2018. Real-World Incident Data and Regulatory Actions

However, analysis of 1,087 anonymized pediatric ER records from 12 major hospitals (2020–2023) identified 31 cases coded as “carrier-associated respiratory distress.” Of these, 19 (61.3%) involved Manjul-branded products.
