Manufacturers bear ultimate responsibility for design integrity—but retailers and consumers wield significant influence. Walmart’s 2023 Supplier Code of Conduct requires third-party factory audits every 18 months; yet Haaris’ primary supplier, Dongguan Lianhua Toys Co., Ltd., has not undergone an unannounced audit since November 2022 (per Walmart’s public supplier portal). This lapse permits deviations in material substitution—such as swapping certified low-VOC adhesives for cheaper alternatives—without detection.

Until then, caregivers deserve more than a cartoon animal and a vague age number on a blister pack—they deserve the physics, chemistry, and developmental science behind every squeeze, stack, and slide.
